Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit The Daily Five ("the Site"), how it is used, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language on purpose. In short: we don't ask for your name, email, or an account; we don't sell personal information; the Site is supported by advertising, and advertising uses cookies.

1. Information stored on your device

The Site uses your browser's local storage to remember game details — for example, whether you have already played today's quiz, your score, your daily streak, and whether you solved today's word scramble. This information:

2. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website or its partners place on your device. The Site itself sets no tracking cookies of its own. However, third-party services we use — in particular Google AdSense, described below — may set and read cookies on your device when you visit.

You can control cookies through your browser settings: you can block or delete cookies at any time. Blocking cookies will not stop you from playing the daily quiz, joke, and scramble, though ads may become less relevant to you.

3. Advertising — Google AdSense and third-party ad cookies

The Site is free and is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. This means:

4. How to opt out of personalized advertising

You may opt out of personalized advertising from Google at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings: adssettings.google.com. Opting out does not remove ads from the Site, but they will no longer be selected based on your interests and browsing history.

You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices (Digital Advertising Alliance) or, in the European Economic Area, youronlinechoices.eu.

5. Analytics

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics service (such as Google Analytics) to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the Site, which pages are popular, and what general types of devices and browsers are used. Analytics services typically use cookies and collect information such as pages visited, time spent on the Site, referring websites, and approximate (city-level) location derived from IP addresses. We use this information only to improve the Site; we do not use it to identify individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. Log files

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard log information when the Site is visited, including IP addresses, browser type, referring/exit pages, and dates and times. This information is used to operate and secure the Site and is not linked to personally identifiable information by us.

7. Children's privacy

The Site offers general-audience content and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Links to other websites

The Site contains links to other websites (including advertisers' sites). We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal information. Because we do not collect or store personal information about you on our own servers, most requests will relate to advertising cookies controlled by Google; the opt-out tools in Section 4 are the fastest way to exercise those choices. You are also welcome to contact us and we will help as best we can.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
